@elvis vowed to never return to the Grand Ole Opry after the audience disliked his rockabilly style during a performance of Bill Monroe’s “Blue Moon of Kentucky.”
Two weeks later, he signed a 52-week contract with the Opry’s rival show, “Louisiana Hayride,” where he gained the popularity to become the “King of Rock and Roll.”
