RYMAN CELEBRATES 10th ANNIVERSARY OF RESTORATION WITH NEW MUSEUM ATTRACTIONS NASHVILLE, Tenn. (October 7, 2004) The historic Ryman Auditorium continues the celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Ryman Restoration with new attractions, including a new exhibit hall and recording booth. To commemorate the 10th Anniversary, a new exhibit in the Ryman Auditorium Museum traces the building’s legendary history. Through use of portraits, original signage, newspaper clippings, and video tape, the exhibit covers the extensive journey from the building’s initial construction through its use as a tabernacle, theatrical show venue, and most well known home to the Grand Ole Opry. Following a 20 year abandonment, the exhibit highlights the Ryman’s miraculous restoration and re-opening as one of the top venues to experience live entertainment in the world. Revival at the Ryman: Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Ryman Renovation is located in the 5th Avenue Vestibule of the Ryman Auditorium and is included in museum admission. For the first time since the re-opening, the Ryman has opened up its backstage to the public. Patrons are allowed to take a guided tour through the dressing rooms dedicated to the stars of the Ryman’s rich musical past, including Minnie Pearl and Johnny and June Carter Cash. “It is truly a unique experience to observe guests as they stand in same place where so many great artists have stood awaiting their time in the spotlight,” says John Dowell, Museum Supervisor of the Ryman Auditorium. Another addition to the Ryman Museum experience is the opening of the Ryman Recording Studio. Patrons are able to record their own CD live at the Ryman! Patrons can choose from a number of songs including classics by Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, and George Jones and a sound engineer will record the patron or patrons singing to tracks performed by professional Nashville studio musicians. Patrons leave with their own “Ryman Records” CD. To record a live CD, museum admission is required and a recording session costs $15. The recording booth is located inside the Ryman Museum where the original ticket office once stood. The Ryman Auditorium Museum is open daily for tours from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Admission to the museum tour is $8.50 for adults and $4.25 for children. Admission to both the museum plus guided backstage tour is $11.25 for adults and $7.00 for children. Tickets are available at the Ryman Box Office. About the Ryman Auditorium ###
