RYMAN AUDITORIUM SELLS OUT
FOUR SHOWS IN FORTY MINUTES
Venue Has Record-Breaking Day
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 24, 2007) Ryman Auditorium had a busy day. At 10am three consecutive Widespread Panic shows scheduled at the Ryman for October went on sale, selling out in less than 25 minutes. At noon, Bob Dylan's first Ryman concert in 13 years did even better - selling out in only 20 minutes. A second Dylan show was immediately added for Sept 20. Dylan first performed at the Ryman in 1969 as a guest on the Johnny Cash show and returned in November of 1994 for a two-night engagement as part of his fall tour.
"It's been a good day," agrees Ryman Facility Manager G. Scott Walden, "and we are very excited about these shows. I think this enthusiastic response confirms that fans really crave the chance to see legendary artists perform in a legendary setting. Not only are the acoustics in the Ryman beyond compare, but the musical history of the Ryman enhances any concert experience. By choosing to play the Ryman multiple nights," Walden continues, "these artists are showing that they too think that playing this historic venue is a special experience."
Other recent sell-outs include this week's Modest Mouse concert and upcoming shows for Damien Rice, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Smashing Pumpkins. The Ryman's fall artist line-up also includes Hootie and the Blowfish, Crowded House with Peter Yorn, Ben Harper, Interpol, Dashboard Confessional, Kings of Leon, and concerts featuring musical legends Steve Cropper, Peter Frampton, and John Hiatt.
"If you missed out on getting tickets to any of the shows today," says Walden, "just stay tuned because we have plenty of other great shows coming."
