RYMAN AUDITORIUM ANNOUNCES THE ANDREWS AGENCY SELECTED AS AGENCY OF RECORD FOR PUBLIC RELATIONS

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.)---April 16, 2001---The historic Ryman Auditorium announced the selection of The Andrews Agency as the public relations firm for the venue, effective immediately with the promotion of Stand By Your Man: The Tam Wynette Story.

"We are excited about teaming with The Andrews Agency, as they have previously represented the Ryman and have a great understanding of our vision for this facility," said Pam Matthews, general manager of the Ryman Auditorium. "Their wealth of experience in the entertainment field and creativity will bring a greater depth to our marketing efforts."

"We are enthusiastic about working with the Ryman management once again," said Susan Andrews Thompson, president of The Andrews Agency. "The staff has put together an eclectic roster this year which balances its country music heritage with amx of virtually every genre of music from bluegrass to folk to rock. The theatrical offerings promise to meet the needs of the market and exceed the expectations of Ryman audiences."

The Ryman Auditorium was built at the cost of $100,000 in 1892 by riverboat captain and Nashville businessman Thomas Green Ryman. This was done following his conversion to Christianity due to a revival conducted by religious leader Samuel Porter Jones and the venue was called the Union Gospel Tabernacle. When Ryman died in 1904, more than 4,000 people attended his funeral and followed the lead of Jones by voting to rename the building the Ryman Auditorium. From its rich cultural heritage of presenting stage productions featuring legendary names such as Katharine Hepburn, Orson Wells and Mae West, the venue housed the world-famous Grand Ole Opry from 1943 to 1974. In 1994, the Ryman reopened following an $8.5 million renovation which returned it to its former glory and in 2000 was nationally named the Best Venue to Hear Live Music by CitySearch. Experts say the Ryman's acoustics are second only to the Mormon Tabernacle, surpassing even Carnegie Hall.

For more information about theatrical and musical events at the Ryman, visit the Ryman Box Office, call (615) 889-3060 or visit www.ryman.com. The Ryman Auditorium is located at 116 Fifth Avenue North in downtown Nashville.

The Ryman Auditorium is part of Gaylord Entertainment, a diversified entertainment company whose businesses operate in two groups: hospitality and attractions, and music, media, and entertainment. It is headquartered in Nashville, Tenn., and its stock is traded on the New York Stock exchange (symbol: GET).
