Critically acclaimed bio-musical "Always...Patsy Cline" returns to the historic Ryman Auditorium for six weeks, beginning June 17, 2011.
It was on the Ryman's legendary stage that Patsy Cline was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1960 and made a name for herself singing songs that are now classics including "I Fall to Pieces," "Crazy," "Blue Moon of Kentucky," and "Sweet Dreams." Fifty years later, the same classic songs will be brought to life again on the same stage by another powerful singer, the critically acclaimed Mandy Barnett. A regular on the Grand Ole Opry and original Ryman star of "Always...Patsy Cline," Barnett is uncanny in her role as the celebrated country singer.
Barnett will be joined by Tere Myers who will reprise her role as Louise Seger. Myers, who also was part of the original Ryman cast in 1994, shines with calculated one-liners, down home country humor and even some audience participation. Original creator and director, Ted Swindley, will return this year to direct the show.
Cline and Seger met in 1961 before a show Cline performed in Houston, Texas. "Always...Patsy Cline" is based on the story of the friendship that developed between them. The show takes its name from Patsy's sign off on her letters to Louise. Each correspondence ended the same way: "Always...Patsy Cline."
